On this page you will find more info and some comments made by models that I have worked with. After reading through this you can go here to submit to EOYM.

In an attempt to save both my time and yours, I am giving more info on this page. I have been receiving many submissions from models that seemingly don't understand what they are submitting to. I hope to make certain that you understand what I expect before you take the time to fill this out.

  • You MUST work with me before you will be listed on EOYM. I am located in Minnesota do not travel to models unless they pay me. You will have to travel here....no exceptions except for Tyra Banks!
  • Unless you are already a well established model with huge name recognition, I will NOT pay your expenses to travel here. What I offer in terms of quality prints, promotional images, exposure is very valuable and I do NOT give that away.
  • While I am very concerned about the safety of models while they are working, I generally do NOT allow boyfriends to look over my shoulder while I am shooting. I do NOT hit on models nor do I pose any threat to their safety. You are MUCH more likely to get hit on when you go to the mall....does that stop you from going to the mall without your boyfriend? I have found that this only poses a problem with amateur models and that pros understand this. Unless you are Tyra Banks don't expect me to shoot with you with the BF looking over my shoulder...unless you are paying me.
  • If you are under 18 don't even bother submitting UNLESS your parents approve and are willing to accompany you to shoots!
  • Unless you are comfortable shooting Maxim style images at least (if you don't know what "maxim style" means then pick up an issue or two and look through it) you will pay me to shoot....NO exceptions. That includes some level of sheer, and/or implied images.
  • I have opportunities for models that are interested in topless/PB style nude images as well but it is NOT required for EOYM.
  • We will discuss, in detail, your comfort level BEFORE we book any shoot and your limits will be respected during the shoot.

    • Here are some comments that were made by models that I have worked with. My references are second to none and I intend to keep it that way.

    "The essence of a good shooting session is sustained in that symbiotic relationship of the model in front of the camera, and the photographer behind. Here is where the chemistry is done or not.
    Dean Johnson is a chemistry maker, you will find dozens or probably hundreds of acknowledgments on this respect, and the truth is that he makes a fast mapping of your personality, his sense of humor brings out the expression he needed from you, and Boom! he makes the rest. His outstanding skills shooting at the right time and in the right way, makes him a truly and unique real artist of the lens.
    Now as a person, the personal care you have from this big guy from the moment you arrived to Minneapolis until you left the city, is like having a brother taking care of his little sister, well, in my case a very little one.
    Through endless hours of session, he throws on you literally tons of advices of posing techniques and many other aspects related to any shooting session.
    It is for this reasons that practically all models worked with him independently of their experience agrees in that Dean is the best, and everybody wants to be shoot with him again. And that feeling starts from the very moment the Airplane takes-off from Minneapolis/St. Paul in the way back home.

    "I just got back into modeling after a year off, having my THIRD baby, and needless to say, along with feeling a bit uneasy about my figure, it was a bit nerve racking to drive from Ohio, to Dean never having met him before........well let me tell you, that by the end of an eleven hour day, after doing 11 sets--I was walking around the studio in just my thong. And any model knows "thong means comfort level" hehee! He did not give me that "dirty old man" feeling, he was totally supportive, he kept in mind some of my flaws and helped me photograph around them, and I could go on and on. I now email or call him with any questions I might have on upcoming shoots, for his take on the photog's work etc. I truly appreciate Dean as a photographer, and now a friend. If you are nervous about traveling to see a man you met on the net, or only spoke to on the phone, that's understandable--- but he isn't one you should worry about at all!!     Dean Johnson is an absolutely amazing photographer! I am new to modelng and I did my first photo shoot ever with him. His talent as a photographer made my photos look like I've been modeling for years! He is very easy to get to know and I already consider him a good friend. He is very patient and has been extremely helpful in giving me advice in my modeling pursuit. I am totally comfortable around him and we work very well together. We did 25 sets in just two days! We were very efficient, but he made the experience fun and it did not feel like work at all. I had a blast and I have some awesome pictures for my portfolio! I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

    I worked with Dean for the first time and I was surprised to see how much great chemistry we had with one another. First and foremost, he wants to make sure the model is happy and comfortable. (Even took me out to a steak dinner! yum!) But his ability to capture the moment, expression and emotion with his camera is unbelievable. We had so many amazing shots that we didn't want to stop..and we didn't! In two days of shooting, we got in 25 sets! He is very efficient, creative and never loses focus. (pun intented!) I feel that I benefitted more than he did with this shoot. I now have images that will help me in my already sky-rocketing career as a model. And I also have gorgeous pictures to last me a lifetime. Now I know why all the models love him. You can add me into that category.

He really cares how the images come out, and that you like them as much as he does.     I've only worked with Dean since Dec '02, (3 shoots so far) he is very good! You never have to
    feel embarrassed working with him. He's very fun and comforting to work
    with. He'll help you pose the right way to make you look your best. I
    believe I got modeling jobs because of HIS photos. They're the BEST. I
